Property Description
Gingerbread is a truly lovely newly refurbished 3 bedroom beachfront villa with private plunge pool and access to a stunning free form swimming pool which is shared by just 7 other villas within the community of Merlin Bay.
The Merlin Bay development is one of our most popular with both our guests at Villas Barbados and our villa experts alike. There are 8 villas in total that share the beautiful pool and beach. The gardens are particularly lovely here too. They are mature and full of tropical flower and birds. The Merlin Bay site is slightly elevated on a cliff with steps leading down to the beach. This ensures there are beautiful views from all the villas. The beach here is lovely with plenty of excellent swimming spots and it is only really used by the Merlin Bay residents and therefore feels lovely and secluded and quiet.
The décor of Merlin Bay Gingerbread is simple and relaxed. It has primarily white and cream tones with lovely pops of Caribbean colour. The living area leads directly to the dining terrace and plunge pool. This is a lovely space where you can gather with friends and family for breakfast and lunch and dinners under the stars.
The villa is built over three levels and has its own private roof deck with fabulous sea views. The master bedroom is located on the upper level and has a really nice sitting terrace with great views of the pool, gardens and aquamarine sea beyond. The second bedroom also on this level has garden views and filled with the lovely scents of bougainvillea and other exotic tropical flowers. The third bedroom is on the lowest level and has the advantage of having direct access to the garden and plunge pool. Each of the three bedrooms is fully air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms. There are two King beds and one Twin bed which can also be made up as a King if required giving Gingerbread great flexibility.
The team who will be on hand to look after you when you book with Villas Barbados comprise of Cheryl our Cook and Jessica our housekeeper. They are both very popular with our guests.
The freeform pool at Merlin Bay is particularly lovely and all our guests enjoy spending time both at the pool and on the beautiful beach. The location of Merlin Bay is also hard to beat being centrally located half way between the very popular and chic Holetown which is full of great shopping and restaurants and then the more local Speightstown.
STAFF
The team at Gingerbread are really lovely. They comprise of Cheryl our cook and Jessica the housekeeper. Cheryl will prepare three meals for you each day and both Cheryl and Jessica work 6 days per week. In addition there is a house manager on call at Merlin Bay should you have any special requirements during your stay. Villas Barbados will also be pleased to organise all your pre-arrival requirements through our complimentary concierge department.

Hi Yvonne and Julie,
Now that we have had a moment to catch our breath, I just wanted to email and say how fabulous Gingerbread is!!!!! We love it and don’t want to ever leave. My daughter said that if they had the Australian animals in Barbados then it would be perfect and she would move here. Such a wonderful place to come after our polar vortex winter.
I have to say that you were right Yvonne- I am already wondering how I ever had three kids without a cook and maid…Cheryl and Jessica are lovely. We had her prepare lunch and dinner today and leave them for us and I came back to folded washing that hadn’t been folded by me….that’s a holiday on its own!
Thanks again for all of your help and advice. The kids are snorkelling away happily but the pools are their favorite I think. Especially the after dinner swim with the pool lit up, best thing ever according to my little one Charlie.
We met Anne Marie today and she was very helpful and lots of fun to talk to. You always worry a little when you book somewhere but this has been our best family holiday so far ( and we are only 36 hours in…)

Hi Yvonne and Julie, We are back home and we wanted to thank you for the organization of this wonderful stay in Barbados. it was just….unforgettable!!! The villa was beautiful, the staff was perfect of kindness and efficiency and the meals were absolutely fabulous, even if we are accustomed to eat spiced meals in Guadeloupe.
